Day 7 - Kia Ora Auckland

Since my last post I've mainly been relaxing, settling into my apartment, picking up some more things I wasn't able to pack and getting to know my flatmates. All four of us are here now. Aside from Rhea from India we have Sidvha (spelling might be wrong) from Norway, and Laura from Germany. They seem like really nice girls!

I'm still getting my classes figured out and have been doing a bit of drawing to get psyched up for classes to start next week.

So today was the Kia Ora (which is the Māori greeting) trip. It was an amazing day! It was wonderful to get to see more of what lies outside the city of Auckland.

We started the day by driving up to Mt. Eden (an extinct volcano) which is the highest natural point in Auckland. It was an incredible view!

Yet another rainbow! : )

Next we drove to the Artaki Visitor Center which overlooks the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. There was a lot of information on the area and yet another great view!

Next we drove a short ways through a golf course to the edge of the rainforest and walked a loop through the bush (as they call it.)

I took a lot of nature shots on the walk...

Underview of a Tui bird

Our next stop was to Lake Wainamu where there were huge sand dunes for us to play on!

We took the adventurous way back to the cars and went through a stream!

Last stop on the trip was to some beaches along the West Coast, beautiful way to end the day.

Even saw some kiteboarders on the drive home!
